Something to Think About with Keith Lawder and Steve Waldorf 12-4-17 Devotion
“Yet O Lord, you are our Father; we are the clay and you are our potter. We are all the work of your hand.” – Isaiah 64:8
For many, the holidays are tough times. We remember loved ones lost, broken relationships, and better times. For some, the focus on the rampant materialism of Christmas turns us off. The prophet reminds us that in spite of all the messiness of our lives, particularly at this time of year, that God is our loving parent. Our potter takes the messy wet lumps of our lives, works in us and on us through all the spinning of our lives, and fashions us into creatures made in His own image. God creates us to be someone important to Him; someone in a personal relationship with Him.
Oh Lord, help me shape my expectations this Advent to be the person you wish for me to be!
