Something to Think About 12-3-18 Devotion
“Come thou long expected Jesus, born to set thy people free; from our fears and sins release us, let us find our rest in thee.”
The words to Charles Wesley’s famous hymn remind us of the similarities between first- century Palestine and today. We feel captive to circumstances. The things which divide us overshadow the things which unite us. We hold fast to our opinions and refuse to believe that something new might be better. We long for Jesus our Savior to come again into our lives and our world. The good news is that He comes again to all who welcome Him into their hearts. What would happen this Advent season, if each of us made a concerted effort each day to make at least one stranger feel a bit more welcome with a kind word or expression of hospitality? We could start a revival of biblical proportions!
